The Boulevard and Cobbham neighborhoods are home to some of the oldest and most stunning Antebellum and Victorian homes in Athens.
Rich in architecture and history, Cobbham is situated on the south side of Prince Avenue, roughly between Pope Street and King Avenue. It is regarded as Athens’ earliest suburb, dating back to the 1830’s.
Just across Prince Ave, the Boulevard neighborhood was once served by a streetcar which ran down the wide, picturesque path connecting residents with downtown Athens.
Boulevard and Cobbham are close to a number of shopping and eating establishments. Make sure to check out White Tiger Gourmet on the corner of Boulevard and Hiawassee for delicious slow smoked BBQ, juicy burgers and seared salmon ciabatta. Other fabulous, local and walkable options include: Birdies for delicious coffee and sandwiches and a fun gourmet market, Maepole for Fast Casual, Grab and Go Gourmet Cuisine, or Pulaski Height BBQ for the worlds’ best Mac and Cheese. In keeping with living an active lifestyle, Boulevard and Cobbham are home to numerous art studios, coffee houses, and wellness studios. Some of our favorites include Canopy Studio, Active Climbing, ATHICA art studio, M3Yoga and Hendershots Coffee which also features music and a full bar (how fun is that).
Featuring a mix of Antebellum, Victorian, Craftsman, cottages, and new construction, these areas feature homes that reflect the eclectic mix of artists, musicians, academics, professionals, builders and chefs who call them home. I mean, where else but these two super cool Athens’ neighborhoods could you find an event like the Historic Athens Porch Fest which features 69 Performers on 67 Porches in 4 Historic Neighborhoods. What a way to spend a Sunday afternoon in Athens. In short, the architecture, people, music, food and activities in these vibrant areas are as varied as the individuals themselves.
