WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY ABOUT The Westside

One of my favorite things about our new home off Whitehead Road is the perfect marriage of city and country. We’re just 4 miles from city hall, a mile from the loop, two miles to a booming and bustling Normal Town, a mile and half to Publix and the mall – basically I can get anywhere I want to in 15 mins or on a $7 uber… but we still have an abundance of nature and wildlife. We see deer in our yard almost daily, have several kinds of woodpeckers, hawks, falcons, rabbits, raccoons, possums, all of these things come through our yard. We enjoy them.

I like the sidewalks on some of the streets. On Edgewood, on Whitehead, and streets like Janice Dr., you’ll see people running, walking, riding their bikes (we took our first long family bike ride last weekend) and people bustling about. There’s a Montessori, wilderness school, and two of the county’s best public elementary schools nearby – plus what many consider the best public middle school in the county.

Contrasting to the East Side – you can take backroads to be in Winder or Ft. Yargo in less than half an hour and the same goes for Jefferson/85. In short, it’s one of those great locations people never really think of as such, so you can find some real gems for young families to buy like ours. I mean, where else could we get a workshop for dad, a guest room for grands, and legit master bedroom, and two extra rooms for family and kids, kitchen, big utility closet, great room for dining and living, porch, creek, .5 acres, paved drive with pull-off, half a mile from an elementary school, and an affordable price! On that note – there’s a wave of home improvements moving through a lot of places as homes sell and are upgraded.

Moving here was a great decision!

I love my quiet neighborhood. My area has a lot of green space and trees and makes me feel I am almost in the country. And yet, I am only minutes to the loop with access to everything Athens has to offer. And without getting on the loop, I am only a few miles to restaurants, parks and shopping. Moving here was a great decision!

My family is relatively new to the West Side of Athens, Georgia and currently live in Forest Heights. We love this neighborhood as it is close to the Loop and therefore, makes many great shopping malls, restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores, and a lot more, just a quick drive! We also love our neighborhood as there are many different age groups and life stages (single, married, etc.) represented. This makes it very easy to connect and find someone similar to you no matter where you are at in life! The neighborhood also has a great Facebook page that many communicate neighborhood news, concerns, and questions on! We love it!

With most homes being only a short ride to Five Points, Normaltown, UGA Campus, and Downtown, the Westside truly is close to everything Classic City has to offer!
